NEMICS attends the launch of the new Victorian Cancer Plan
On 12th September 2024 the Victorian Government officially launched the Victorian Cancer Plan 2024–2028.
In the foreword, The Hon Mary-Anne Thomas MP, Minister for Health, notes, “This plan outlines how we will improve cancer outcomes, building on the success of our previous endeavours.”
We are delighted some of our past impacts and ongoing initiatives are recognised in the new Victorian Cancer Plan, including:
- The VICS Optimal Care Summits – identifying unwarranted variations in cancer care and design actions to address them (p.40)
- Enabling and embedding the Accessing Cancer Care Equitably using Support Services (ACCESS) program, with Cancer Council Victoria (p.46). This was piloted at our partner health service, Mercy Hospital for Women Heidelberg.
The launch was attended by NEMICS Acting Director Ann Yeomanson, NEMICS Clinical Director Prof Wanda Stelmach and NEMICS Deputy Clinical Director Dr Umbreen Hafeez.
We welcome the release of this new plan and look forward to contributing to its success.
