HRICS and Goulburn Valley Health have conducted an evaluation of the GP Androgen Deprivation Therapy Management Action Plan implemented at GV Health Day Oncology Unit in 2019.

The plan enhances prostate cancer care by clarifying management and side effects, fostering communication among specialists, GPs and patients, and identifying individual health and wellbeing needs.
Survey data confirmed high satisfaction among clinicians and patients, with improved understanding and support. The plan’s success has spurred national interest and replication. Future steps involve exploring an electronic version of the plan and the continued delivery of comprehensive cancer care.
Rebecca McAllister from HRICS and Sonia Strachan from GV Health presented a poster and oral presentation on this work at the Cancer in Primary Care (Ca-PRI) Conference in April, reflecting on their comprehensive 5-year review.
