Exploring the Patient Population Profile of LGBTIQ+ People Affected by Cancer in Western and Central Melbourne

This project aims to explore and understand the unique patient population profile of LGBTIQ+ individuals affected by cancer in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

It seeks to identify specific needs, disparities, and barriers faced by this community, with the ultimate goal of improving healthcare delivery and outcomes.

The main project objectives are:

  • Characterise the Demographics: Collect and analyse demographic data to build a comprehensive profile of LGBTIQ+ cancer patients in the region.
  • Identify Healthcare Needs: Understand the unique healthcare needs and challenges faced by LGBTIQ+ individuals.
  • Evaluate Accessibility and Inclusivity: Assess the accessibility and inclusivity of existing cancer care services.
  • Propose Recommendations: Develop actionable recommendations to enhance cancer care services for the LGBTIQ+ community.
