Nutrition for adolescents and young adults during treatment and beyond
The goal of this project was to develop a suite of unique, engaging resources to contribute to improved nutrition outcomes in paediatric cancer patients.
In 2021 PICS undertook undertook a project to explore nutritional services in paediatric cancer care in Victoria. Consultation with clinicians and consumers identified the need for resources providing information on NG tube feeding for adolescents and young adults (AYA); smell, taste and textural changes during cancer treatment; and eating well and physical activity after cancer treatment. A working group of dietitians from The Royal Children’s Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Monash Children’s Hospital co-designed a suite of new resources with the support of lived experience advocates. The resources are available to view and download below.
