A compendium of evidence and framework for neuropsychological services in paediatric cancer
This resource has been developed by PICS, Victoria’s Paediatric Integrated Cancer Service.
The report below was commissioned by PICS to support The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) and Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) Children’s Cancer Centres (CCCs) to:
- review current literature on neurobehavioural late effects in childhood cancer survivors
- review available international guidelines for neurocognitive assessment and follow-up for childhood cancer patients
- document findings from local studies of neurobehavioural outcomes for children treated through the CCCs at the RCH and MCH
- establish a risk algorithm that could inform workforce requirements for neuropsychology services.
The report presents a new framework for neuropsychological services that meets the standards suggested by international consortia and incorporates findings from local population studies.
