Survivorship education - Need for follow-up care
This video has been developed by PICS, Victoria’s Paediatric Integrated Cancer Service.
PICS has developed a series of e-learning modules for health professionals on cancer survivorship and long-term follow-up for children and adolescents following treatment for cancer.
The video below explains the reasons for holistic, long-term follow-up care after treatment for childhood cancer.
It also describes late complications that can follow treatment for childhood cancer, including effects on:
- dentition (teeth)
- thyroid
- heart
- lungs
- fertility
- musculoskeletal system
- hormones
- metabolic syndrome
- development.
