The NEMICS region is home to around 1.5 million people and accounts for 29% of the Greater Melbourne population and 22% of the Victorian population.

The region has a diverse population, with almost 10,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents and more than 460,000 residents who were born overseas.
