The Gippsland region

Gippsland Regional Integrated Cancer Service (GRICS) logo

Gippsland is a southeastern region of Victoria, covering around 41,500 km2.

The region stretches along the coast from the New South Wales border in the east to Phillip Island in the west, and from Wilsons’ Promontory in the south to the mountains of The Great Dividing Range in the north.

In 2021, 2,570 new cancer diagnoses were recorded in the Gippsland region.

In 2021, 793 people in Gippsland died of cancer.

The most common types of cancer in Gippsland are genitourinary, colorectal, breast, lung, and skin.
